Prince Philip's heart operation was a success but the Palace has confirmed that he will remain in hospital.
Buckingham Palace said of the 99-year-old, who had a pre-existing heart condition: "The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
"His Royal Highness will remain in hospital for treatment, rest, and recuperation for a number of days."
Philip, who is the UK's longest-serving consort, is receiving treatment at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. He was taken there by ambulance from King Edward VII's Hospital earlier this week.

He has currently spent 16 days receiving treatment, the longest he's been in hospital.
On February 16, the Duke was taken to King Edward VII's Hospital, a private facility, when he started feeling unwell. It has not been reported what exactly he has been suffering from but it has been confirmed that is not a Covid-19 related illness.
Following the Duke's hospital admission, his eldest son and next-in-line to the throne, Prince Charles visited and stayed with him for about half an hour.
Philip, who turns 100 this year, has spent most of the UK's ongoing lockdown at Windsor Castle with the Queen to ensure their safety. They reside there along with a reduced number of royal staff known as HMS Bubble.

News of Philip's ongoing health battle comes as the Palace confirmed that it is conducting an investigation into bullying allegations against Meghan Markle, saying that it "does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace."
A spokesperson said: "We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Accordingly, our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article.
"Members of staff involved at the time, including those who have left the Household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned. The Royal Household has had a Dignity at Work policy in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace."
