Prince William has broken Royal protocol after posing for a selfie with a fan in Ireland.

It is typically accepted that members of the British Royal Family do not pose for photographs or sign autographs with members of the public, however, the second-in-line to the throne decided to make an exception after he was handed a small bouquet of daffodils during his visit to County Kildare on Wednesday.

Jennifer Malone reportedly asked the Duke of Cambridge for a selfie after handing him the heartwarming gift, and the pair smiled for an adorable photo.

Jennifer's mom, Donna, later posted the pictures to Twitter, when they have been liked more than 1,300 times (as of this writing)

And it wasn't long before comments started flooding in praising William and Jennifer.

One Twitter user with the handle @tips_talk commented: "Jennifer you must be one amazing and beautiful young lady. Obviously even Prince William couldn't wait to take a selfie with you!! The Sweetest".

And Deniese O'Flaherty tweeted her reply, writing: "Even Prince William wants to meet Jennifer. She's some woman".

Per the official UK Royal website, there are certain guidelines that should be adhered to when meeting Prince William. It states: "For male members of the Royal Family the same rules apply, with the title used in the first instance being 'Your Royal Highness' and subsequently 'Sir'."

And per Hello Magazine, they write that "generally speaking, royals politely decline photographs as they are often focused on an engagement when out in public".

William's brother, Prince Harry even once admitted that he "hates selfies", telling a young fan during a visit to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra: "No, I hate selfies. Seriously, you need to get out of it (the habit), I know you're young, selfies are bad. Just take a normal photograph!"

For Jennifer, this is certainly not the first time a famous face has wanted to have their picture taken with her. Last year, Australian actor Hugh Jackman posed with the picture of the youngster, and even thanked Jennifer for her time:

But it wasn't all fun and selfies for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. On Thursday (March 5), roughly 300 people turned out to the Royals have a go at hurling and Gaelic football in Galway.

Judging from the pictures, they could both do with a bit more practice...
