It has been a tough 2020 for so many of us, but one radio station is hoping to spread a little joy over the next four months by playing non-stop Christmas songs.
Now, it may seem a little premature to start belting out Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' - I mean, many of us are still planning backyard BBQs next weekend - but Christmas is without a doubt the most joyous time of year, and I think we've all been through enough hardship in 2020 that we can extend the festive cheer outside of just December.
The new pop-up station is aptly named Magic 100% Christmas, and has been launched by Bauer Media.
The company has stated that the early jingling of bells is indeed an effort to lift the spirits people who have had to endure what is admittedly the worst year in modern history.

Tony Moorey, the Group Content Director at Magic Radio, told RadioToday: "At Magic Radio we are constantly evolving our offerings and launching innovative new shows and stations to ensure that we reflect our audience’s needs.
"With listeners seeking cheer and fun during these challenging times and a strong understanding of how music and Christmas are interlinked, we knew that the next expansion of the Magic brand had to be around the joy of Christmas."

And former Boyzone member and Magic Radio Breakfast presenter Ronan Keating added: "2020 has been a hard year for us all - what better way to lift our spirits than bringing Christmas forward a few months?
"One of the most fulfilling parts of working at Magic Radio is to be able to connect with our listeners and bring a smile to their faces, so I can't wait to launch Magic 100% Christmas and turn up the Christmas cheer!"

Now, I know there will be many Scrooges out there bah humbugging the news, but I personally welcome it. Who can say no to a BBQ in the sun while listening to a bit of 'Fairytale Of New York'?
