The British Royal Family has shared dramatic new images of the late Prince Philip prior to his funeral on Saturday.

The pictures in question were uploaded to the official Twitter account of the Royal Family on Thursday, April 15.

According to The Daily Mail, they show Prince Philip piloting a Harvard Advanced Trainer, an American aircraft, on May 4, 1953.

The photographs were reportedly taken by his instructor, Flight Lieutenant Caryl Ramsay Gordon, and show the late Duke of Edinburgh soaring over Windsor castle and its royal estates.

They were accompanied by the caption:

"The Duke learned to fly with @RoyalAirForce at White Waltham and gained his RAF Wings in 1953, his helicopter wings with the Royal Navy in 1956, and his Private Pilots Licence in 1959.

"He gave up flying in 1997 after accumulating 5,986 hours as a pilot in 59 types of aircraft."

But these are not the only pictures the Royal Family has shared of the Queen's consort prior to his funeral.

Queen Elizabeth also shared her favorite photograph of herself with her husband in a post made on the official Instagram account of the British Royal Family on Friday, April 16.

It shows Queen Elizabeth and the late Duke of Edinburgh sitting together on the grass of the Coyles of Muick hills in Scotland, and was allegedly taken by Sophie, Countess of Wessex. It was captioned:

"Her Majesty and the royal family are grateful for all the messages of condolence from around the world and have been touched to see and hear so many people sharing fond memories of The Duke, in celebration of his life."

The official Twitter account of the Royal Family shared an until-now private image taken by Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland back in 2018.

It shows Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip sitting on a sofa chair, surrounded by their many happy great-grandchildren.

These include Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Mia and Lena Philips, the daughters the son of Princess Anne Peter Phillips, and their cousins Isla and Savannah Philips.

Prince Philip's funeral will take place on Saturday at 3:00PM (BTS).
