Mackenzie Crook, famous for his role in the British sitcom The Office, has issued an appeal to find his missing sister-in-law.

The 51-year-old actor's sister-in-law, Laurel Aldridge, has been missing from the Walberton area, near Arundel, West Sussex, since last Tuesday, as reported by The Guardian.

Sussex law enforcement has stated that they are "continuing to be concerned" about the 62-year-old and that she is deemed to be "very vulnerable".

The outlet noted that Aldridge - who is Crook's wife's sister - was last seen leaving her house sporting a turquoise fleece, brown hat, and a maroon tartan scarf while holding her grey puffer jacket.

This Tuesday marks one week since Aldridge went missing and Crook - who starred as Gareth Keenan in the British mockumentary, the equivalent character to Dwight Schrute in the US version - has used his platform to ask the public in helping him find his sister-in-law.

The actor appeared on Good Morning Britain to plead for help in the devastating disappearance and disclosed that his family is "clutching at straws" one week on.

"It's a week now, it was this time last Tuesday that she left the house with nothing but the clothes she was wearing, no keys, money, phone, and she’s not been seen since," he said. "I’m here at Slindon cricket ground which was the last positive sighting we had of her and that was a week ago, since then, nothing.

"She was diagnosed with cancer last year and she missed her fifth chemo session last Tuesday and we think that’s what has triggered some sort of crisis in her and she’s gone off for a long walk somewhere… we are really clutching at straws now after a week," he added.

The presenters asked The Detectorists star if there are any "clues or hunches" as to where Aldridge might be and Crook replied that the family had been scouring "so many wooded areas" in the last two days that it had become "overwhelming".

He said that they are "hopeful" that she may have taken refuge in a "back garden, shed, or outhouse" and asked people to check their gardens - even if they had done so already, in case she was "on the move".

The police have described Aldridge to be about 163cm tall (5ft 4in) with grey/blonde highlighted hair, and said that she sometimes wears glasses.

Detective Sergeant Alan Fenn has posted a statement pleading with the public, that read: "We are continuing to pursue multiple lines of inquiry and would thank any members of the public who have provided information to us so far.

"We may have information which could place Laurel’s last known location. To be in that location it’s likely Laurel would have crossed a busy road where people would have been driving in the area at the time," they revealed.

"I am urging people who were driving in this area or near to this area of Arun to review their dashcam footage to see if there is anyone who matches Laurel’s description," they added.

People living near the area are asked to report any details to the police by contacting 101 if it is non-urgent or 999 if it is urgent - quoting serial number 347 of 14/02.

They are also encouraged to report any vital information to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555111.

We hope that she will be found safe and well.
