The teenager - from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire - had been vacationing with his friends in Tenerife while attending the NRG music festival.

Last Sunday (June 16), Jay was partying with friend Lucy Mae Law at the Papagayo beach club in the lively resort of Playa de la Americas. However, rather than return back to their shared accomodation, Jay chose to continue the evening with two British men, per reports.

That night, Jay reportedly took a car journey back to the Airbnb where the men were staying - 19 miles away from the Papagayo beach club.

The farmhouse - named Casa Abuela Tina - is located in the the village of Masca.

According to the MailOnline, Jay and the two unidentified men arrived back at the Airbnb at around 5:00AM.

Around an hour later, neighbours at Casa Abuela Tina report hearing noise from the farmhouse.

In what is believed to be his final social media post, Jay took to Snapchat at around 7:30AM to share the following image of him standing outside the property - its distinctive steps clearly in view.

At around 8:15AM, Jay left the property and briefly spoke with a local woman named Ofelia Medina Hernandez.

Hernandez said that she saw Jay waiting at the bus stop outside of the Airbnb, and he allegedly asked when the next bus would be that could take him back to Los Cristianos.

Hernandez reportedly explained that the next available bus down the mountain in the Parque Rural de Teno wouldn't arrive until two hours later.

"I held up my fingers on my hands to say 10AM as he didn't understand me then I went home briefly before driving up the mountain to Buenavista del Norte, but this time I saw him walking on the road out of the village," she said.

"It was no more than ten or fifteen minutes after I had spoken to him and he was about a kilometre from the house. I drove past him and that's the last I saw him," Hernandez added.

Around the same time, Jay called friend Lucy Mae to tell her that he was lost, thirsty, and was planning on walking back to their accommodation - a journey that would have taken him around 10 hours.

After their call, Jay's phone battery died. His last tracked location was in the Rural de Teno Park, near the village of Masca, a popular hiking area - which has been the key area rescue teams have focused on over the last 8 days.

Shortly after 9:00AM, Lucy Mae reported Jay missing to Spanish authorities.

With Jay still yet to be found, more and more questions have arose about the two men Jay spent that night with.

Speaking to the MailOnline, Lucy Mae says Jay insisted of staying with them that night, despite her best efforts to get him to head back to their holiday apartment. "I just don't understand why he went to their place," she said.

"He'd only just met them and didn't know them at all. Brad [a mutual friend] and I said to come back but he didn't, if he had this wouldn't have happened."

Thanks to Jay's last Snapchat message from the Airbnb, Lucy Mae revealed that she was able to locate the property and spoke with the two men after reporting Jay missing.

"They seemed startled and surprised that I had found them, and I asked them where Jay was," she said. "They said he had gone out to try and look for cigarettes and then come back and said he was leaving to try and get a bus back into town.

"They just seemed shocked that I had managed to find them and I know the police have spoken to them but I've since found out they have left the country. They need to be spoken to properly."

The two men were originally supposed to leave the property on June 17, but were able to stay on another night due to Spanish authorities wanting to speak with them.

Both men have since returned to the UK, but the Spanish Civil Guard has confirmed that their information - including their names and passport details - have been noted.

Over the weekend, Jay's family revealed that a possible sighting of Jay had been reported - with a witnesses saying that somebody who resembled Jay was spotted with two men 10 hours after he was reported missing.

His mom, Debbie Duncan, revealed: "Someone has come forward to say they saw someone who they thought was Jay walking back down the road sat on a bench.

“He was with two men looking a bit worse for wear, and they were by a church, this guy has come forward and told the police about it and they are looking into it. We don’t know if it was Jay for sure, but it’s a start.

“They said it was about 6:00PM which is ten hours after he was seen by the lady in the village. But if it was him what was he doing there and who are these two men?

“All I know is that I am going to stay here for as long as it takes, I’m not going home unless it’s with Jay. I’m not going anywhere until they find him."

Spanish authorities have briefly commented on the possible sighting, saying: "Nothing has been ruled out and nothing has been ruled."
