You never know what you will find behind closed doors... until you decide to strip everything back and redecorate.
A woman, who lives in London, decided to redecorate one of the rooms in her home and started stripping the wallpaper. As she peeled back the layers, she discovered a message that had been hiding behind the walls for over two decades.
Taking to Facebook, Charlotte Morrison shared a photo of the note to the social media platform, and captioned it, "So decided to strip all the wallpaper layers finally in the front room, Come across this [...] cheers Jon [sic]."
The note read: "If you ever need to wallpaper this room again, it will take eight rolls of wallpaper. I bought just six rolls at $21.00 per roll. I didn’t have enough (it really p*ssed me off).”
The note was signed "Jon" and was dated Dec. 21, 1997.
At the time of writing, the post has recieved over 18,000 likes, and has been shared more than 14,000 times.
"I wonder if he discovered it as he papered or before. Poor guy," commented one Facebook user, and another added: "Clear coat it and hang a frame around it! Too cool to lose!"
In fact, per Fox News, the post eventually reached Jon's family, who proceeded to contact Morrison.
"It really made me chuckle and I’m just pleased that (Jon’s) relative contacted me and I could tell him how his note made so many people laugh," she told the publication.
Jon doesn't use Facebook, and so was completely unaware that his note from 1997 had gone viral.
"I have spoken to (Jon’s relative)," Morrison continued. "She asked him questions I had asked and he confirmed them, he also told us about features in the house that was here when we moved. She said he hates social media, and I told her social media thinks he is a legend."
Now, she just needs to decide what to do with the room where she found Jon's message.
"We actually have been torn whether to wallpaper or paint," she said. "I originally wanted to paint, but since finding the note, I would like to test Jon’s math."
