An 11-year-old girl who is recovering from a traumatizing acid attack that occurred at a playground has spoken out against her attacker.
The shocking incident took place on July 9 at a local park in Detroit where a 12-year-old girl, who was not identified by authorities, was accused of attacking Deaira Summers with acid, as reported by CBS News.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, the suspect has been charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and felonious assault.
She was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
In a GoFundMe to raise money for Deaira's medical costs - which currently has raised $19,232, exceeding the $10,000 target - her grandmother Debra Golston claims that a girl was at the park with her siblings and cousins when an altercation transpired between the suspect and the cousins.
Golston alleges the 12-year-old's "mother brought acid to the park for her child to retaliate," and that Deaira and her siblings had already left the park, but Deaira returned because she dropped her purse and was then doused with the acid.
She says Dearia spent four days at the hospital with second and third-degree burns, stating: "She is lucky to be alive but will need ongoing care to fully heal from all the wounds she incurred.
"Deaira’s mother is having to take time off from work to care for Deaira and for her own mental well-being," the grandmother continued. "The family may also need to relocate to another area, as the suspected teenager and her mother have yet to be apprehended as of the writing of this request."

The alleged attack on Deaira at a Detroit playground has scarred her both mentally and physically. The young girl has now spoken out with the hope that everyone responsible for the attack faces the consequences.
"I hope she gets what she deserves, and they all get what they deserve," Deaira told local WXYZ. "I just saw a shadow, and I was, like, I know when someone's coming up behind me."
Dominique Summers, Deaira’s mother, told CBS Detriot that she immediately called 911 after her daughter "came running through the door and smoke was coming off her body and holes were pierced all through her clothes." As her mother's intuition kicked in, she put her daughter in a cold shower until the ambulance arrived.
In addition to the 12-year-old's charges, Summers said that the suspect's mother should also face consequences, explaining: "That's where it should've started. I know that a 12-year-old wouldn't come up with something like that on their own. To even think of something so evil to do."
Furthermore, the victim's mother opened up to WDIV-TV about the emotional toll the horrific incident has had on her child, saying that the past week has changed her drastically.
"It is going to scar her for life," Summers said. "It was a traumatizing event that took place and she’s going to remember this the rest of her life."
The incident is under investigation by the Detroit Public Schools Community District, per WJBK-TV.
"This is an extremely troubling set of allegations. Instant horrible decision-making can have lifelong effects on others. There is no excuse for this," Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement, as cited by USA Today.
After a preliminary hearing last week, a $10,000 bond was ordered with a tether - meaning the child will be requested to wear a monitor while out on bond. The next hearing in the case will be on Tuesday.
