A night of gun violence in New York City has left two people dead and seven wounded.
The gunshot victims included an eight-year-old boy, as well as the two people who were stabbed and two more who were slashed across Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, according to New York Post.
One of those who lost their lives was a 27-year-old woman who died in her Harlem apartment after being stabbed by her ex-boyfriend at about 8:45 PM.
According to police, the woman was able to stab her attacker before she succumbed to her injuries, striking him in the neck and in his chest.
The man was reportedly left in a critical condition after the woman fought back.
Two hours later, a 33-year-old man went on to lose his life inside an East Flatbush building.

There was also a drive-by shooting at about 9:45 PM in St. Albans, Queens, which injured three people including the eight-year-old boy and his 39-year-old father.
A 57-year-old man also found himself caught up in the gunfire.
The two suspects fired the bullets from two suspects in a dark-colored sedan on 178th Street near 119th Road in St. Albans, as per New York Post.
The eight-year-old was shot in the shoulder and his father was hit in the leg.
Meanwhile, the 57-year-old's ankle was grazed by the bullets, according to police and sources.
It is believed that the boy's father who has gang links was the target of the attack.

According to police sources, another three men were shot on Wednesday night, with two of the shootings taking place in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn.
Then, at around 10:10 PM, a 54-year-old woman was knifed at random inside the 14th Street-Union Square station.
Sources said that a man who arrived at the Brooklyn Hospital Center with a cut on his face explained that he had been injured during an interaction inside the Fulton Street subway station.
The violence in the city was subsequently slammed by the NYPD's Sergeants Benevolent Association.
"DON'T BLAME US …the Cops didn't change the laws in NYC the elected officials in NYS and City Council did!!" the group tweeted.
