Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a bold message about taxes at last night's Met Gala - and looked amazing while doing it.
Now, while a lot of celebrities love to think they're giving some sort of statement with their outfits at the annual fundraising event, I'm sure we can all get on board with what AOC is saying.
Arriving on the red carpet to last night's event, the New York representative managed to turn heads with her white Brother Vellies gown. And it wasn't just because the 31-year-old politician looked absolute fire in the dress - oh no - it was the message she had imprinted on the back of the dress: Tax the rich.

The bold red text stood out immediately on AOC's white dress, which was beautifully sophisticated with a tulle bottom. She pairs the gown with a pair of shoes that featured the Flor De Maga - the official flower of Puerto Rico - in a touching nod to her heritage.
On the red carpet, AOC was accompanied by Aurora James, who designed the gown.
Speaking about her decision to attend the event and the significance of the dress in a press release, AOC said: "There’s no way I’d be doing this if it wasn’t with a woman of color and with the intent to grow the table and empower women that look like me.
"Despite being held in New York City, the culture of the Met Gala is everything but. NYC is often synonymous with inclusivity, inviting millions of people from different walks of life to call this city home. The Met Gala, on the other hand, is seen as elite and inaccessible.
"I’m attending today because I want to change just that and spotlight women of color who are often not included during events like these."

And over on her social media accounts, the New York rep proudly showed off her impactful dress with the accompanying caption:
"The medium is the message.
"Proud to work with @aurorajames as a sustainably focused, Black woman immigrant designer who went from starting her dream @brothervellies at a flea market in Brooklyn to winning the @cfda against all odds - and then work together to kick open the doors at the Met.
"The time is now for childcare, healthcare, and climate action for all. Tax the Rich."
AOC also took the time to give her highlight the fact that her entire styling team for evening were all "BIPOC/Women/LGBT+".
She also noted: "BEFORE anybody starts wilding out - NYC elected officials are regularly invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing our city’s cultural institutions that serve the public. I was one of several in attendance."
And over on Twitter, people couldn't help but heap praise on AOC for her powerful gown:
