One of the victims of Friday's Astroworld festival mass casualty in Houston, Texas, has been identified as Mirza Danish Baig.

The 27-year-old reportedly died attempting to save his fiancée, 25-year-old Olivia Swingle, per his brother, Ammar Baig.

The crowd surge took place on the opening night of the festival, which saw fans rush towards the front of the stage as rapper and festival organizer Travis Scoot was performing. Officials say around 300 people were injured and eight people lost their lives — including a 14-year-old child.

Speaking of his brother's heroic actions, Ammar told PEOPLE: "[Mirza] managed to get it to where she was able to get out."

"Somehow, the ambulance managed to get to her and then, by the time they got to my brother, they tried resuscitating him. And they said that before they got to the hospital, he couldn't make it."

Danish, who worked as a district manager at AT&T, alongside Olivia, had traveled from Dallas to Houston after months of planning to go to the festival.

He then described the scene that his brother encountered at the festival where 50,000 people were in attendance: "People started hitting them, people started hitting his fiancée, started [doing] a lot of things to her. She's bruised up, and he was trying to save her. And no one there was there to help him."

"He would always take care of his fiancée. He would always get her whatever she wants. They would always have goals, plans, all these things he had in his mind for them," Ammar said of the couple and their relationship. "He just started his life.''

Ammar has now blamed poor organization and a lack of security for the tragedy, saying what happened to his brother as "unjust".

Travis Scott had previously been charged for disorderly conduct in 2017 after a performance at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion in Rogers, Arkansas.

Back in 2015, he also pleaded guilty to charges of reckless conduct after encouraging fans to push through barriers and climb onto the stage during a festival in Chicago.

Following the tragedy on Friday, Scott took to Twitter to share a statement, in which he voiced his "absolute devastation."

"I'm absolutely devastated by what took place last night," the 30-year-old 'Love Galore' rapper wrote. "My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival."

"Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support."

After the surge, 11 people were rushed to hospitals after experiencing cardiac arrest — and eight tragically lost their lives. Some fans were treated on-site at the NRG Park, at the temporary field hospital.

Scott is said to have stopped a number of times during his 75-minute set to ask security to help fans in the crowd after spotting them in distress.

Chief Lt. Larry Satterwhite from the Houston police was at the front of the stage during the deadly incident.

"It seems like it happened with just over the course of a few minutes," Satterwhite said, per CNBC. "Suddenly we had several people down on the ground experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode. We immediately started doing CPR."
