A bartender has been praised on social media after his cunning ploy saved a woman from being hit on by what he called a "creep."
On Monday, June 14, a woman named Trinity Allie took to Twitter to share the story of how a server named Max Gutierrez had rescued her from a man giving her and an acquaintance unwanted attention while they were drinking together in an establishment in the town of St. Petersburg.
The man's behavior unnerved Allie. Luckily for her, Gutierrez was in control of the situation, and surreptitiously passed her a note which he scrawled on the back of a receipt in lieu her cheque.
Allie later shared a picture of the note she had received from the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing Gutierrez, which read:
"If this guy is bothering you, put your ponytail on your other shoulder, and I will have him removed. He's giving me the creeps. [sic]"
Uploading a picture of her savior and his note in the aftermath of the incident to Twitter, Allie captioned her post:
"This man was harassing me and my friend and the bartender passed this note to me acting like it was my receipt! Legit the type of bartender everyone needs."
Her post has since racked up more than 44,000 retweets and a further 210,000 likes at the time of writing, with a number of Twitter users taking to social media to share their appreciation for the tapper's thoughtful act.
For example, one person wrote: "This should be a requirement for being a bartender! This guy is a guardian angel."
A second Twitter user commented: "Sounds like a great bartender, we need more guys like this!! [sic]"
This person agreed, writing: "I'm glad u did post this, & I hope u said something 2 the owner of the bar. This man kept what could have been a really bad situation safe by doing this. Bartenders like this rock! [sic]"
Another added: "That's a good guy there! Tell him I want to buy him a drink for that. From a guy with 6 daughters. [sic]"
Finally, another Twitter user chimed in: "That's really awesome. I'm glad you and your friend were ok and it's really honorable of this bartender to care. Bravo!"
Allie herself later joined the comments, writing in a follow-up post: "I made him pose for this after the guy left lol just to show my appreciation."
Meanwhile, Gutierrez himself later joined the discussion, writing in a follow-up post of his own: "Hey that's me! Lol.
"Fun update, the guy I kicked out Sunday night came back to the bar JUST NOW for a beer, told him I wouldn't serve him. [sic]"
So if you're a bartender and you want to make sure that women don't feel unsafe while being social, then why not take a leaf out of Gutierrez's book? Then you too could be someone's hero...
