The harrowing scene after a car fatally smashed through a hospital in Texas has been caught on camera.

On Tuesday (February 13) evening, a vehicle barreled through the emergency department at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center at around 5:38PM.

According to The New York Post, the unnamed driver was taken out of the sedan and given CPR by both hospital staffers and EMS, but tragically, they succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

It has been revealed that at least five victims sustained injuries from the terrifying crash. Authorities also disclosed that eight more patients were queued up to be taken to other facilities, as reported by The Mirror.

Watch the shocking moment below:

Captain Christa Stedman of Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services disclosed that one child was rushed to Dell Children’s Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries, and one adult was sent to Round Rock Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

Thankfully, another adult and child who were transported suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

An onlooker named Danielle Ketchens witnessed the frightening incident and shared that she was visiting her mother on the third floor of the hospital when the vehicle struck the ER.

Ketchens explained to the Austin American Statesman that an alarm went off and claimed that a nurse noted that it was a fire alarm, "like it was nothing," adding: "But she heard something in her earpiece and she just took off, and she's like, 'Oh, I'm sorry. I'll be right back.'"

Later, nurses instructed visitors to leave through the hospital's south entrance, to avoid the distressing scene at the ER.

Horrifying images of the accident were shared on social media and showed the car lodged in the wall of the clinic, with heaps of debris and dust spread around it. Another terrifying video also reveals patients being grabbed out of the way and a giant dustball circulating through the floor upon impact.

The crash is currently under investigation and there was no immediate word on the cause, but the Austin Police Department noted that it appeared to be unintentional.

"There is no threat to the general public. Based off preliminary information and details gathered at this time, this incident does not appear to be an intentional act. APD officers continue to assist our first responder partners, and the investigation is ongoing," they wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Texas Governor Greg Abbott also spoke out on the social media platform, penning: ‘I’ve spoken with Mayor Watson about the tragic accident at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center & offered Texas’ full support.

"State personnel are working closely with local officials to ensure Austin has no unmet needs," he added.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the crash.
