Chris Evans has hit out at Donald Trump for opting to commentate on a boxing event on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
Last night, the 75-year-old former president provided his thoughts at Triller's Fight Club commentary booth, during an event that featured four bouts. Taking place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, the card was headlined by the professional in-ring return of 58-year-old boxing legend Evander Holyfield.
However, former Captain America star Chris Evans was left unimpressed by Trump's latest venture, considering it took place on the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Writing on Twitter, the Marvel star said: "On the 20th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history, a former president of the United States of America will be... hosting a pay-per-view boxing match in Florida."
The actor then asked: "Honestly, how, HOW do the people who support him square this?"
Evans had been responding to an initial tweet, which read: "Some people are upset that on September 11 Trump will be providing color commentary for a pay-per-view boxing match. Not me. I'll be happy if stays far away from the solemn ceremonies memorializing the tragedy and bravery of that day, so we won't have to stoop to noticing him."
Evans' tweet has since amassed over 4,000 retweets and more than 60,000 'likes' as of this writing.
However, during his commentary gig at last night's event, Trump did take a moment to comment on the significance of the day - describing 9/11 as "one of the most important days".
The former president went on to slam Biden for his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawing, saying: "We had a very bad week because of some very bad decisions that were made.
"We should have never allowed to happen what happened in Afghanistan with 13 great warriors and many injured and many people killed in these final few days and it was just a shame."
And, while awaiting the results of one match, Trump quipped: "It's like the elections ...It could be rigged."
Aside from these comments, Trump - sitting alongside son Don Jr. - stayed on track for the evening's events.
Discussing Holyfield's first-round TKO loss, Trump said: "Right from the beginning you could see it, he was not the same fighter. He lost a lot. That left jab was very slow."
