Conspiracy theorists believe Brian Laundrie is hiding under his parents' flower bed after drone footage supposedly caught a hand poking out of the soil.
As reported by The New York Post, these online sleuths are claiming that Laundrie, who is a person of interest in the disappearance of his now-dead fiancée Gabby Petito, is hiding from law enforcement in his mother and father's backyard.
According to these amateur detectives, footage shared online purportedly shows Chris and Roberta Laundrie tending to their yard.
In the video, a woman who resembles Mrs. Laundrie is seen checking something in the flowerbed as Mr. Laundrie stands in the background. It is not known when exactly the video was filmed.
The conspiracy theorists have been claiming that the video shows a hand emerging out of the soil as Mrs. Laundrie leans over.
Now, many are saying that the 23-year-old fugitive could be hiding in a bunker underneath the flowerbed.
One TikTok user, who goes by the handle @charlienovasite on the social media platform, shared a video containing parts of the drone footage zoomed in.
He says: "There is definitely someone there. You cannot change my mind."
A different TikToker, mamabear_xo, declared in their TikTok video: "Brian is under the garden bed. Watch him hand his mother something."
A third user on the platform, kmiller480, stated that the FBI should be checking the Laundrie's backyard.
"Chris Laundrie agrees to assist in the search for his son, Brian. Meanwhile, Roberta Laundrie is busy as ever in the garden. Has the FBI checked the garden?" they captioned the video.
However, other social media users were quick to point out that the likelihood that Laundrie has been hiding in a bunker in his parents' backyard for weeks was not exactly great.
One person wrote on Twitter: "I can’t believe people actually think Brian Laundrie is in a bunker under their flower bed.
"Realistically, who would coincidentally have an underground bunker in their backyard already OR be able to build one by the time they realized Gabby was missing."
Laundrie was named a person of interest in the case, four days after 22-year-old Petito was reported missing by her parents.
Josh Taylor, a spokesman for the North Port Police Department, has said there was a lot of "oddness" in the case from the outset.
He told NewsNation: "We’ve said from the beginning there’s a lot of oddness here, a lot of things that just didn’t make sense.
"I mean, your son walks out there — now they’re saying on a Monday — to report that on a Friday and then be confused on what day that was. There’s a lot of things that are odd there."
