A couple who lost their home to a fire thought there was little chance of recovering anything when they returned to see if they could salvage anything from the ashes.
Remarkably, though, they were able to find a small glimmer of hope in the form of their wedding rings, which had survived the blaze, albeit charred and "pretty messed up".
Chloe and Jason Carroll’s property in Solano County, Calif. was destroyed by a fire on Aug. 19, and Chloe realized that she had left her wedding ring in the bathroom, Fox News reports.

“I knew I took it off in the bathroom,” she told KCRA. "And I put it in my little worker cabinet while I was washing my hands.”
When they returned to the property to see what they could salvage from the wreckage, Chloe thought of the many items that doubtless would have been lost to the flames.
“I just thought of everything,” she said. “My kids' ultrasound photos. My kids' footprints from their birth.”
And Chloe was certain that her rings would be gone.
“I thought for sure they’d be gone,” she revealed. “I thought they’d be melted.”

Jason thought there was little chance of recovering anything from the house. “I did not believe anything would be found, and I thought if it was found, it'd be melted to nothing,” he told KCRA.
However when an aunt came to help them sort through the property, she found the rings after 30 minutes of searching.
“I got something,” Chloe said. “I got something that I thought was completely gone.
“It gives you a little hope".
