Netflix docuseries Death of the Pastor’s Wife has captivated viewers following its release, but according to independent investigators, two details were left out.
The death of Mica Miller has now been covered in the series, as family members and friends of the late wife recalled how her relationship with pastor John-Paul (JP) blossomed.
Mica met JP when the former was just 19, while the pastor was 35 and still married.
After he divorced his wife, the pair got together and started leading the Solid Rock Church as a power couple in the community, with Mica becoming the choir leader.
She first filed for divorce from her husband in 2023, after separating from him earlier in the year after a period of marital strain.
In April 2024, Mica traveled to Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, shortly after serving JP with divorce papers.
Authorities were alerted to her whereabouts, and her body was later recovered at a park, with the medical examiner officially ruling her death a suicide following an investigation.
Mica's death caused outrage, with friends and family alleging that Mica was subjected to emotional and physical abuse and persistent harassment during the separation.
Advocates for survivors against domestic abuse spoke out, as protests broke out outside of JP’s church, leading him to sell the building and lose a chunk of his supporters.
JP was also indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators in December 2025.
While most of this was covered in the doc, two important claims were left out.
Before Mica was the worship leader at Solid Rock, it was the pastor's close friend Mark Kaufman who assumed the role.
Podcaster Beth Braden penned a now-deleted blog post, claiming that Mark was the one who helped start the church's 'paradise', also known as songs which were turned into worship songs.
Throughout the docuseries, viewers can see Mica singing these tunes.
JP had left the church after his affair with Mica was made public, but Mark was allegedly a key figure in convincing him to come back.
Braden also claimed to have found out that the church allegedly bought a small plane, formally registered to Solid Rock Ministries.
The podcaster used FlightAware to track the plane's movements, which stayed idle in Rocky Mount airport for the majority of the summer.
It would finally move in August, when the craft landed in a small airfield in North Myrtle Beach.
The plane is no longer in Solid Rock's possession, with it being reported that it has been transferred to FeRX LLC, with Mark listed as a co-founder of the aircraft.
