A Russian-born woman has been sentenced to 21 years behind bars for attempting to kill her lookalike friend with a poisoned cheesecake.

As reported by the New York Post, 47-year-old dominatrix Viktoria Nasyrova appeared at Queens Supreme Court on Wednesday after being found guilty of attempting to kill her friend with a piece of poisoned cheesecake back in 2016.

Per a news release from Queens County District Attorney Melinda Katz, Nasyrova was convicted back in February of attempted murder, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and petit larceny in connection with the attempted fatal poisoning.

The tainted dessert was used as part of a plot to steal the identity of eyelash stylist Olga Tsvyk, who The Post reports was Nasyrova's friend and bared a physical likeness to the woman.

Prior to Nasyrova's sentencing, 35-year-old Tsvyk spoke of her ordeal, telling the court: "God gave me life when Viktoria Nasyrova tried to end my life."

"For her, it was an easy thing to try and take the life of another person," she added. "It was easy thing to gain the trust of another person and then take everything from that person.

"It was easy for her to steal. It was easy for her to kill."

She also told the court how she struggled to sleep months after the murder attempt, scared that her former friend would "come back and finish what she started".

Upon Nasyrova's sentencing, Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder described the dominatrix as "an extremely dangerous woman" for attempting to carry out the "diabolical" plot.

Justice Holder then sentenced Nasyrova to 21 years in prison - causing the 47-year-old to yell "f*** you" at him while she was being led out of the courtroom.

Over the week-and-a-half-long trial, jurors heard how Nasyrova was accused of buying a cheesecake from a famous bakery as a gift for Tsvyk and lacing it with a powerful Russian tranquilizer. Nasyrova reportedly ate two untainted pieces herself, before offering Tsvyk a drug-laced slice.

Prosecutors say that after eating the poisoned cake, Tsvyk started throwing up and eventually passed out. Nasyrova then allegedly stole her money, passport, employment authorization card, and several other belongings. She then allegedly scattered pills around Tsvyk's unconscious body in order to make it look like her friend had taken her own life.

"At that time, the victim and Nasyrova resembled one another — both had dark hair, the same skin complexion and other similar physical traits. Additionally, they were both Russian speakers," DA Katz said back in February.

Fortunately - despite doctors saying she was dangerously close to a heart attack - Tsvyk survived and recovered.

Nasyrova was caught after leaving her DNA on the cheesecake box.

During her trial, a man by the name of Ruben Borukhov claimed that Nasyrova had previously drugged him during a date, and stolen his credit card and watch.

NBC News reports that Nasyrova's defense attorney has already voiced plans to appeal the sentence.
