Donald Trump has taken to his personal website to comment on the winner of the Kentucky Derby.

In a post uploaded to his newsletter service, From the Desk of Donald Trump, the former US President lambasted Medina Spirit, the horse that won the 2021 Derby, after it provoked controversy by failing a drug test.

On Sunday, May 9, referencing his unfounded allegations of voter fraud on the part of the Democrat Party in the 2020 Presidential Elections, the ex-POTUS wrote: "So now even our Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit, is a junky.

"This is emblematic of what is happening to our Country. The whole world is laughing at us as we go to hell on our Borders, our fake Presidential Election, and everywhere else!"

Per The New York Times, on Sunday, May 9, Kentucky Derby winner Bob Baffert revealed that his horse Medina Spirit had tested positive for 11 pictograms of the illegal steroid betamethasone.

Medina Spirit had previously been declared the winner of the Kentucky Derby, which was held at Churchill Downs in Louisville on May 1.

This is the seventh time that Baffert has won the highly-publicized race, making it a new record for the competition. However, five of his horses now have failed drug tests in the past year alone, throwing significant doubt as to the legitimacy of his prior wins.

If disqualified, this will make Medina Spirit the third horse in the 147-year history of the race to be stripped of its coveted title. Churchill Downs officials have also officials suspended Baffert from entering other horses there.

The NYT reports that Baffert commented on the drug test results in an official press statement, claiming: "I was totally shocked when I heard this news.

"I am the most scrutinized trainer. And I am OK with that. The last thing I want to do is something that would jeopardize the greatest sport.

"I'm worried about the sport. This is a pretty serious accusation. We’re going to get to the bottom of it. We didn't do it. There’s problems in racing. But it’s not Bob Baffert."
