President Donald Trump has repeatedly shared posts from an X account posing as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, despite clear signs that the profile is a parody.
Trump has reshared messages from the account, @WHLeavitt, on his Truth Social platform multiple times.
While the handle itself could appear convincing at a glance, the account’s display name is listed as “Fan Karoline Leavitt,” with the word “Fan” partially obscured using stylised fonts and emojis.
X also labels parody profiles with an official badge, which this account displays.
Parody Account Has Posted Explicit and Bizarre Content
The account, which currently has more than 213,000 followers, has posted content that strongly suggests it is not run by the White House press secretary.
In March, the account asked followers to rate Leavitt’s body in a post that included a video of her walking up the steps of an aircraft alongside Trump and Elon Musk.
“What do you think of my backside? Watch the video—it’s featured in the final 3 seconds,” the post read.
Trump did not share this specific post, but has continued to amplify other messages from the same account.
Profile Shows Multiple Signs It Is Not Authentic
Recent platform changes on X make it clearer that the account is not linked to the White House.
The profile lists its location as Taiwan rather than the United States.
Records also show the account only became verified in November 2024, shortly after Trump was elected, and underwent a documented name change in February 2025, not long after he returned to office.
Despite this, Trump has continued resharing screenshots from the account on Truth Social.
Posts Often Align With Trump’s Messaging
One explanation could be that Trump is either unaware that the account is fake, or chooses to share its posts because they align with his political messaging.
The account frequently posts anti-immigration content and election denial claims similar to the rhetoric Trump often uses in speeches.
Last week, it posted claims about the 2020 Georgia election, alleging hundreds of thousands of votes lacked required signatures and calling for financial restitution for Rudy Giuliani.
Trump reshared a screenshot of that post on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
On Christmas Day, Trump also shared a post from the account calling for the deportation of Somali immigrants from Minnesota.
Account Has Also Tried to Impersonate Official White House Activity
In several posts, the account has gone further by suggesting it had the authority to organise official White House events.
In June, it asked followers whether they would join a Fourth of July White House visit and a Trump photo opportunity, claiming it would select 1,776 MAGA supporters.
In another post, it invited “real human users” to attend a press conference supposedly led by Leavitt.
These posts were not reshared by Trump, but remain visible on the account.
