As of the most recent situation report from the World Health Organization, there has been 167,511 confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world, and the number of deaths as a result of the disease has now reached 6,606.
These numbers continue to grow by the hour.
Per CNN, the disease has infected more than 4,400 people and killed at least 80 in the United States, according to the health officials.
Last week, in response to the escalating pandemic, President Trump declared a "national emergency".
Speaking at a press conference from the Rose Garden in Washington, the President of the United States said:
"To unleash the full power of the federal government for this effort today, I am officially declaring a national emergency. Two very big words.
"The action I am taking will open up access to up to $50 billion of very important and a large amount of money for States and territories and localities in our shared fight against this disease.
"In furtherance of the order, I am urging every State to set up emergency operation centers effective immediately."

Tweeting to his 74.2 million followers, Trump wrote: "The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!"
However, his labeling of the disease - which originated in Wuhan, China, back in December - drew ire with Twitter users, and people were quick to slam the President's choice of words.
One unimpressed Twitter user replied saying: "In a year, it's going to be known as the Trump Virus".
Dr. Eugene Gu replied saying: "There it is. I’ve been deathly afraid of this exact moment where Trump turns to racism and xenophobia and calls COVID-19 the “Chinese Virus.” We are in deep trouble as a nation now that President of the United States makes the conscious decision to go down this dark path of hate."
The doctor added: "When officially naming the coronavirus as COVID-19, the World Health Organization specifically declared that it didn’t want to include any type of geographic or ethnic description of the virus that could inflame hatred. Trump calling it the Chinese Virus is beyond reprehensible."
And Christopher Zullo replied to the President's tweet, saying: "Let’s remember. Coronavirus is not an Asian virus. It’s a human virus. We must elongate the epidemic curve for slow rise, slow fall. We must release all medical stockpiles. We must limit public gatherings of any sort, of any [kind]. Sooner we do this, sooner we conquer this disease".
Another doctor responded to Trump, saying: "I'm an ER Doc and don’t claim to be an infectious disease expert, but looking into the data I’ve found insufficient evidence to support racism as an effective antiviral."
And actor Angela Belcamino replied to the tweet saying: "Chinese Virus??? Just when you think Trump can't go any lower, he always finds a way."
