A theory about DoorDash grandma's real identity has surfaced after she visited the White House to deliver food to President Donald Trump.
On Monday (April 13), Sharon Simmons, a grandmother of 10, delivered two bags of McDonald's to the Oval Office.
"I have your DoorDash order for you, Mr. President," the woman who was wearing a red 'DoorDash Grandma' shirt said to Trump, to which he responded: "Hello. Nice to see you. Look at this!"
The 79-year-old then looked towards a group of nearby reporters and added: "This doesn’t look staged, does it?"
Simmons, who is from Arkansas, was reportedly selected for the delivery after saving more than $11,000 through provisions tied to tips. She told Trump she began working for DoorDash in 2022 after exhausting her life savings to cover her husband’s cancer treatment.
As Simmons prepared to leave, a reporter asked her whether the president is a good tipper.
Trump responded, "wait," and reached into his pocket to hand the driver a $100 bill, telling her she's a "great supporter".
He went on to say: "You're really nice. Would you like to do a little news conference with me with these people? These are not the nicest people; they're not nice like you."
Instead of departing, Simmons stayed by Trump’s side as he addressed reporters.
At one point during the conference, the president abruptly asked the grandma whether she believes "men should play in women's sports?" She responded: "I really don't have an opinion on that. I'm here about no tax on tips."
He also asked whether she voted for him, to which she responded: "Um, maybe."
After footage of the interaction spread across social media, users began digging into Simmons’ background, with some claiming she had previously appeared in political settings.
A video circulated showing a woman believed to be Simmons speaking at a public hearing in Nevada last year, in a video shared by Republican David Kustoff, a US representative for Tennessee's 8th Congressional District.
DoorDash has stated that Simmons began delivering in 2022 to earn income while maintaining a flexible schedule, and that she has completed more than 14,000 deliveries while helping pay for her husband’s cancer treatment. Despite this, some users remained unconvinced.
"Sharon Simmons is a MAGA-aligned Trump supporter. She's not just a random DoorDash driver picked for a photo op - she's been actively featured in pro-Trump events and Republican-led congressional hearings," one user slammed.
Another said: "They flew her in from Arkansas. By her own account, it was her first time in DC. Put her in a marked DoorDash car with no license plate. It was clearly a staged photo op - and an ad for a business - but why not use a real door-dasher from the area?"
A third added: "I deleted my @DoorDash app. This stunt shows that they don't care about their customers."
A fourth blasted: "The administration’s actions are performative because they assume that every American is MAGA and therefore easily swayed."
The grandmother denied allegations that she’s an actress during an interview on Fox & Friends, noting that she’s a real driver working to support her loved ones.
She told the interviewers, "I am not a paid actor. My life is just like everybody else's," and admitted that she "testified at the congressional hearing".
Simmons revealed that she was nervous to deliver the food to the Oval Office, but after saying a prayer with her husband, she decided to head out and make the drop-off.
"I didn't want to be part of any of the decisive issues because that's just not me," she said. "I love everybody, I love people on every side of the fence about different issues because that's how my parents brought me up."
"Some of it's been hard to see and hard to read about," she added.
