Elon Musk has sparked a conversation online after suggesting an age cap for anybody running for president.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, December 2, the Tesla CEO tweeted out the following message to his 65.3 million followers:
"Let’s set an age limit after which you can’t run for political office, perhaps a number just below 70..."
As of this writing, the post has received more than 360,000 'likes', over 35,000 retweets, and has ignited a heated debate on the microblogging platform.
Musk's tweet comes just days after the White House confirmed that Joe Biden is once again preparing to run for re-election in 2024, with press secretary Jen Psaki saying in a short statement: "That's his [Biden's] intention."
Additionally, former POTUS Donald Trump has also hinted this week that he is considering running for office again in 2024.
During a sit-down interview with GB News, Trump told British politician and Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage that his supporters would be "very happy" when he eventually makes an announcement.
"If you love the country, you have no choice," Trump said. "It's not a question ... this is a wonderful, beautiful life—but I like that too because I was helping people. That's why I did it."

"And I think you'll be happy in the future, too," the former president added.
Of course, with Joe Biden being 79 years old and Trump being 75, both would not be up for consideration under Musk's proposed age limit.
The 50-year-old SpaceX CEO's tweet was met with a barrage of comments - with people sharing different views on the matter.
"If we have a minimum age limit, then we should most [definitely] have a maximum age limit," one person replied. Of course, the minimum age somebody can run for president of the US is 35, as directed by the Constitution.
Another added: "The average age of the world population is 30-35 so leaders should be below 50."
One person suggested: "Perhaps it would be much better to remove the minimum voting age and finally make the voice of young people heard?"
Another questioned: "Why would you want to put a limit on something like that? If the person is coherent and able to demonstrate sound ideas and has the will of the people, why would age even matter?"
Others, however, took the opportunity to take a dig at Musk, with one Twitter user writing: "Let's set a limit to the amount of money one person can hoard, say just around a billion. After that any other money has to be used for thr good of the people and planet."
I guess with age comes wisdom - but let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
