A New Mexico EMT was forced to live out every parent's worst nightmare when he was called to the scene of a fatal car crash that killed country singer Kylie Rae Harris. After arriving at the incident, he made the heartbreaking discovery that his own daughter had also been killed in the crash, the Page Six reports.

Fans of country singer Kylie Rae Harris were devastated to learn that she had died in a crash on Wednesday. The 30-year-old 'Twenty Years From Now' singer was driving on a highway in Taos on Wednesday evening when she was killed in the three-car pile-up, Billboard reported.

Now, more details are emerging regarding the crash. Per KQRE, San Cristóbal Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Pedro Cruz raced to the scene of the northern New Mexico incident on Wednesday, but unfortunately arrived to find that his 16-year-old daughter, Maria Elena Cruz, was also killed.

Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe told KQRE:

"He’s also an EMT, so he’s no stranger to going out on calls both medical, crashes and other things, but very traumatic for him to not know but to respond anyway and then find it was his family member."

Maria was reportedly driving home from work on Highway 522 that evening, when a speeding Harris clipped Elena’s SUV with her Chevrolet Equinox. Investigators believe Maria then lost control of her vehicle.

Both Maria and Harris died at the scene.

Local sheriff Jerry Hogrefe told the Taos News that authorities believe alcohol could have played a part in the collision, but they are still awaiting the toxicology results. Hogrefe said: "At this time, I will say with most certainty that Miss Cruz was an innocent victim of this senseless crash caused by Ms. Harris."

Taos News previously reported that Harris had a previous DWI conviction in Texas, and had been ordered to install a breathalyzer machine in her vehicle.

The 30-year-old singer had spent the summer touring throughout Texas and the southwest to promote her self-titled album. She tweeted on Wednesday evening: "Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM."

A GoFundMe has since been started by somebody claiming to be Maria's friend, in order to help her family cover any expenses. The current amount raised stands at over $26,000.
