Aaron Hernandez's fiancée has paid tribute to him on the fourth anniversary of his death.

The former New England Patriots player and convicted murderer, 27, was found hanging in his prison cell in April 2017 as he served a life sentence for murdering Odin Lloyd in 2013.

Hernandez was engaged to Shayanna Jenkins, with whom he had a daughter, Avielle, in 2012.

Paying tribute to him on Instagram on Monday (April 19), Jenkins wrote: "Since you've been gone, the loss hasn't gotten any easier ... I still hurt . I still cry . I still wonder why [sic]."

She also shared the quote: "You [sic] memory is what gets me through each day as I remember all the special things about you."

Hernandez's fiancée then explained how she and his eight-year-old daughter are keeping his memory alive.

"You are missed, loved and thought of heavily today," she wrote. "Avielle and I continue to talk about you and keep your presence alive . May you continue to Rest In Peace and watch over us daily . With love always and forever [sic]."

This emotional post comes after she previously paid tribute to Hernandez on his birthday, which he shares with his daughter.

"I know you cherish this day because it's one you share with your daddy," Jenkins wrote to her daughter in an Instagram post in November. "Daddy is looking down on you and will continue to guide you forever ! May you smile big today and always ! I love you ... #Avielleturns8 #daddysgirl #AHforeverHBD [sic]."

A docuseries about Hernandez was released in January of last year on Netflix, and it included new claims about the former NFL star's sexuality.

Hernandez's childhood friend Dennis SanSoucie opened up about their alleged sexual relationship in the series.

"I was a small piece of Aaron's sexual activity," he said. "At that time frame, the girls didn't really hang out with the boys after school, so me and Aaron experimented and it was something that, I'll be honest with, that we continued because we probably enjoyed it. Um, hello?"

Jenkins went onto address the claims about her fiancé's sexuality in an interview with ABC News' Amy Robach.

"If he did feel that way or if he felt the urge, I wish that I was told," she said. "I wish that he would have told me because I would not have loved him any differently. I would have understood."
