A woman has claimed in a series of TikTok videos that she picked up the boyfriend of missing Gabby Petito while he was hitchhiking in Grand Teton.
In the videos, 22-year-old Miranda Baker says that she and her boyfriend picked up 23-year-old Brian Laundrie on the August 29 after finding him hitchhiking.
In a series of videos published on Friday - the same day that authorities revealed Laundrie had disappeared - Baker says: "Hi, my name is Miranda, and on August 29, my boyfriend and I picked up Brian at Grand Teton National Park at 5.30PM at night at Colter Bay."
Watch Baker's first video here:Explaining her reasoning behind the TikTok posts, she adds: "I’m hoping this can help someone identify him, because I saw him from TikTok, which then made me call the authorities, and my boyfriend and I have been in contact with a bunch of different people to help piece together different parts of this case."
Per the New York Post, August 29 is four days after Petito - a travel blogger - shared her last Instagram post, as well as being four days since she last called her family.
On August 30, Petito's family received a text message from Gabby, but her mother has since told the Daily Mail that she believes the message was fake and not from her daughter.
The Post also reports that Petito was last seen on August 30, traveling alongside Laundrie in their converted van.
Laundrie returned to his parents' house in North Port, Florida, in the van on September 1.
In the videos, Baker says that she picked up Laundrie while on their way to Jackson Hole. She claimed that Brian had offered her $200 for the lift, which she describes as "weird".
She says that Laundrie "freaked out" when she told him they were on their way to Jackson Hole. Baker says: "Once I said Jackson Hole he became agitated. He seemed like he needed to get out, he was kind of antsy. And that’s when things got weird."
In the videos, Baker shared maps of their route - adding that they dropped Laundrie off near Jackson Dam at 6:09PM. He told the couple that he was going to find somebody else to hitchhike with.
Brian allegedly told Baker that his fiancée was "working on their social media page back at their van."
In her final video, Baker shares texts messages that she sent to her mom revealing that she had picked up a hitchhiker.
Baker has stated that she has shared all of this information with authorities, and a spokesperson Josh Taylor from the North Port Police Department in Florida has confirmed to The Independent that they have spoken to Baker.
