American radio and television personality, Howard Stern, suggested on Monday that Donald Trump's supporters should "take disinfectant" and "drop dead", per Fox News.

"I would love it if Donald would get on TV and take an injection of Clorox and let’s see if his theory works," he continued. "Hold a big rally, say f*ck this coronavirus, with all of his followers, and let them hug each other and kiss each other and have a big rally."

"A big cocktail of disinfectant," the co-host of the Howard Stern show, Robin Quivers, chimed in. "Yeah," Stern replied. "And all take disinfectant and all drop dead."

"I don’t recognize any of this as being Republican, I don’t recognize it as being anything political. I see it as insanity," Stern added. "I don’t know what is going on there, but I don’t have a good feeling."

This comes after the president made several controversial remarks regarding how disinfectant and UV light could be used to fight the novel coronavirus at his news briefing on Thursday.

"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? So it'd be interesting to check that," he said.

Trump later clarified that he was being sarcastic after his comments were denounced by the medical community for being irresponsible and dangerous. "I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you,” he claimed. “Disinfectant for doing this, maybe on the hands, would work. I was asking…when they use disinfectant it goes away in less than a minute."

It's been reported that some poison control centers saw a spike in calls after Trump's assertions, and several agencies, including Lysol's parent company Reckitt Benckiser, have issued statements on social media to warn citizens against ingesting such products.
