An influencer has sparked outrage after asking a woman who can't swim to jump in a lake and then fleeing when they called out for help.
The incident occurred during a May 29 livestream, during which, Kick personality Natalie Reynolds and a group of friends were seen participating in a scavenger hunt, according to The New York Post.
Broadcasters were told to scan various RFID tags in the area in order to win rewards, which Reynolds said she would give away to her viewers, per Dexerto.
The content creator - who was donning a backward baseball cap, shorts, and a crop top - reportedly paid a random woman $20 to dive into the Lady Bird Lake, in Austin.
Watch the moment below:In the stream, Reynolds dared a woman to jump into the water, telling her: "You should just jump in right now".
The woman then dove into the water as Reynolds watched. She then turned to the people behind the camera, laughing: "Did you see her a**?"
The woman, who is now in the water, can be heard yelling: "You said it was OK. You told me to jump in," to which Reynolds, giggling, responded: "No I didn't,'" and then fled the scene with her friends.
The woman can then be heard screaming: "I can't swim, I can only gloat," which left the streamer seemingly concerned. "Stop, seriously, you're actually freaking me out. I'm going to f***ing kill myself. She says she's drowning," Reynolds said, before she leaves the area.
The video then cuts to the influencer and her friends in a car, with the streamer saying: "This is really bad." A fire truck is then shown driving towards the scene.
While the details of the incident remain unclear, the Austin Fire Department disclosed that firefighters were called to the area to provide medical assistance and that a person in the water was pulled out of the lake, per The New York Post.
The woman’s condition was not revealed, nor was it clear what kind of medical assistance she needed.
Many people took to their social media to blast the streamer for the stunt as one user wrote: "Disgusting display from this streamer and her production team. Taking advantage of people for your content is crazy & irresponsible."
Another said: "This woman’s account should be reported to X by everyone! She should Not have a platform to show herself and her friends causing people hard and possible death."
A third commented: "What the actual *?! What is up w/ ppl nowadays?! Disgusting behavior... For what Ms Natalie? For views? Now myself & many others know ur name ... for being a sh***y human being. Great job, girl! SMH."
However, Reynolds is hitting back at the criticism, explaining her side of the story in a reply on X (formerly Twitter).
"I was kicked out of location and was demanded to leave while others helped," she said, adding, "She was floating not sinking."
This is not the first time the streamer garnered controversy online as last December, she was kicked out of the gym for wearing "painted pants".
