Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have taken to social media to share their first messages since being projected by media outlets to win the 2020 Presidential Election.
Harris - who is now projected to become the first Black and female vice president in US history - also shared a touching video of her calling Biden to congratulate him.

In their first tweets since the historic projection, Biden tweeted to his 15.7 million :
"America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.
"The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.
"I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."

Harris also shared a tweet to her 9.1 million followers, in which she writes:
"This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started."

In another tweet, Harris shared a video of her calling Biden to congratulate him on their projected victory.
Captioning the video: "We did it, @JoeBiden", Harris says in the brief clip:
"We did it, Joe. You're going to be the next president of the United States."
Per the Associated Press, Joe Biden was projected to win the 2020 election to become the 46th President of the United States.
The announcement was made after the former Vice President surpassed the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the election after being declared victorious in Pennsylvania.

The AP adds that Biden crossed 270 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania.

NBC and CNN have also declared Biden as the projected winner of the election.
As of this writing, Biden has earned 279 electoral votes, whereas Trump remains on 214. It is important to note that votes are still being counted.
The 2020 election saw both the Democratic and Republican candidates receive a record number of votes.
Per the Washington Post, reported that Biden had received a record 74,493,946 votes, breaking the record set by Barack Obama for most ever votes for a US presidential candidate.
Trump also received a record-breaking 70,342,988, marking a considerable increase from the votes he received in 2016.
Biden, 77, will be the oldest president in American history. The record was previously held by Donald Trump, who is 74.
