After making sexual misconduct allegations against his former employers, JPMorgan Chase, and colleague Lorna Hajdini made headlines, Chirayu Rana has come in for criticism from an ex-work associate.
In a lawsuit, Rana alleged he endured months of racial discrimination and sexual assault, including claims that Hajdini visited his home and assaulted him despite his pleas to stop.
However, one former colleague described Rana, a onetime basketball player and Rutgers graduate, as “socially awkward,” but still someone who “met the requirements” to keep his role at JPMorgan Chase, according to a New York Post report.
The same report noted that Rana and Hajdini worked alongside each other on the leveraged finance team, which handles major corporate deals like mergers, acquisitions, and buyouts, rather than having a direct reporting relationship.
Sources told the Post that Hajdini reported to managing director Brandon Graffeo, while Rana answered to a different managing director, Jon Wolter, meaning she would not have had authority over his compensation.
One colleague was blunt in their assessment, saying: “He has tarnished her with a complete fabrication.”
According to people familiar with the situation, Rana filed an internal complaint in May 2025, accusing the firm of race- and gender-based harassment as well as abuse of power.
He later allegedly sought a payout worth several million dollars as part of an exit package.
Reports from The Daily Mail outline the claims at the center of the controversy. In a lawsuit, a former coworker alleged he endured months of racial discrimination and sexual assault, including claims that Hajdini visited his home and assaulted him despite his pleas to stop.
The complaint states the alleged behavior began in 2024, with one of the first incidents occurring in the office.
The accuser claims Hajdini dropped a pen and grabbed him while picking it up, allegedly saying: “Oh, you did play basketball in college? … I love basketball players… they get me so wet.”
He further alleged that she drugged him on at least one occasion and made repeated inappropriate advances, along with offensive remarks about both him and his wife.
JPMorgan has firmly rejected all of the allegations made against it and Hajdini. A spokesperson declined to comment on the identity of “John Doe” but said a detailed internal investigation, conducted by HR and in-house legal teams and involving a review of phone records and emails, found nothing to support the claims.
“Following an investigation, we don’t believe there’s any merit to these claims,” the spokesperson said. “While numerous employees cooperated with the investigation, the complainant refused to participate and has declined to provide facts that would be central to support his allegations.”
