Perhaps the biggest question of 2018 so far is this: why are Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin rushing into marriage?

The couple were only dating for a matter of weeks before confirming their engagement in early July, and the speedy scenario got tongues wagging that all was not as it seemed. Was it all a publicity stunt? Was Hailey secretly pregnant? Was Justin trying to make his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez jealous? Were they just two crazy kids who'd fallen head-over-heels in love? No one really knows the real reason and the rumour mill is overworking itself.

However, I'll give you all a little tip: never, ever ask Justin why he got engaged so quickly. Because, chances are, he'll shade you so fast, and so hard, you'll get whiplash.

How do we know this? Mostly because of the Love Yourself singer's recent response to a photographer who directly asked him if he was getting married because his model fiancée was pregnant.

The pap caught up with the star while he was buying coffee in Beverly Hills, asking him: "Is Hailey pregnant right now? You stated that you guys are family, so everybody was thinking she might be pregnant."

However, he must have instantly regretted questioning the pop star, as Justin immediately stopped in his tracks to call him out, saying: "What’s your deal, bro? You just seem too like, you just seem too normal to be doing this job ... I just don’t understand why you gotta try to get a rise, you know what I’m saying? [sic]"

When the photographer attempted to defend himself, Justin also told him "No, you know what you’re doing", eventually requesting that the camera be turned off.

Lesson learned: never try to shame the What Do You Mean? singer.

Nonetheless, just because we have to keep our thoughts to ourselves about the engagement, that doesn't mean that Justin's family has to do the same. In fact, many people believe that his mother Pattie Mallette made her feelings perfectly clear on the matter recently with some supposedly shady goings-on on social media.

First of all, fans went crazy when Pattie removed a reference to her son in her Twitter bio. For years now it has read: "Yes Justin Bieber is my son." However, now it says: "#LoveWins #LOVEARMY".

You quite could easily accuse fans of reading too far into it. So she changed her social media bio shortly after her son announced his rushed engagement, big deal right?

But to add fuel to the conspiracy fire, soon after Pattie's followers caught wind of a tweet from former Bachelor contestant Sean Lowe, which she'd liked on Twitter. It read: "Before proposing to a woman they’ve only known for a few weeks, I think the final guys on The Bachelorette should come help me scrub my kid’s diarrhea out of my living room rug just to make sure they’re serious about the whole 'I want a family with you' thing."

A pretty interesting tweet for her to like, just weeks after her superstar son's rushed proposal. So, is there trouble in the Bieber family camp? Who knows? But one thing is for sure: unless you want a stern telling-off, don't ask Justin about it.
