Karlie Kloss has revealed that she tried to convince her in-laws Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump that Biden legitimately won the US election.
The model, 28, made the revelation on Twitter after she tweeted to encourage her followers to recognize the results of the election in the wake of the Capitol riots.
"Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic. Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American," she wrote.
Then, after a follower advised Kloss that she should share her message with her in-laws as well as Twitter, she took to the social media website to reveal that she had
"I’ve tried," she wrote.
As per Fox News, Kloss married Jared Kushner's brother, Josh, in 2018, but despite her close connection to the Trump family, the model has repeatedly made it clear that her political allegiances lie elsewhere.
Ahead of the November election, for example, she took to Instagram to share a picture of herself holding her mail-in ballot while wearing a Biden-Harris facemask.
Then, on November 7, when Biden's victory was projected by various news outlets including Fox News, Kloss shared a picture of Biden and Harris hugging in celebration.
"President-elect Joe Biden, and MADAM Vice President-elect Kamala Harris," she captioned the photo.
Trump returned to Twitter on January 7 after a 12-hour ban to issue the closes statement yet to a formal recognition of Biden's victory after the Capitol riots.
Listen to Trump's message below:"Now Congress has certified the results a new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th," he said in a video, without mentioning Biden by name.
"My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation."
Despite the chaos caused by the Capitol riots on Wednesday, the Senate was able to successfully reconvene to recognize Biden's victory.
Five people died as a result of the violent protests, including one police officer, and this led to a number of White House staffers resigning with immediate effect.
Trump has been widely accused of inciting the violence by repeatedly denying the legitimacy of the election.
