One of the most notable allegations to arise following 'the Weinstein Effect' last year was those levelled at Kevin Spacey, first by actor Anthony Rapp, then numerous others. Rapp alleged that Spacey had made advances on him when he was just 14 years old - a claim that the actor claimed to not remember.
In a statement, Spacey later diverted attention from the potential crime to his sexuality. "I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago," he wrote, before coming out to the public as a gay man:
"But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.
"This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women.
"I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior."
In the following months, more people came forward with acusations against the actor - leading to Spacey eventually being replaced by Christopher Plummer for All the Money in the World, and Netflix firing him from House of Cards. Now, it seems that another person has come forward to accuse Spacey of sexual misconduct.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Spacey allegedly sexually harassed a masseur in October 2016. This man was called to Spacey's home in Malibu by a third party, where he was led into a room to set his table for his work.
The anonymous man, reportedly filed as John Doe, said that Spacey told him that he was having pain on his "groin area". He then allegedly grabbed John Doe's hand and pulled it to his crotch, before trying to kiss him.
Spacey was pushed away, but the actor soon blocked the door with his naked body and told him "you have such beautiful eyes". He then went on to grab Doe's genitals, before seemingly saying something about performing oral sex.
Eventually, the masseur managed to leave the house with all his equipment - and is now suing the actor for sexual battery, assault, and false imprisonment.
The lawsuit, which was filed at Los Angeles Superior court alleges:
"Spacey’s conduct was extreme and outrageous. Spacey acted with reckless disregard for plaintiff’s rights and feelings, and with deliberate indifference to the certainty that plaintiff would suffer emotional distress.
"As a direct and proximate result of Spacey’s actions, plaintiff has suffered and continues to suffer severe mental anguish, emotional pain and distress, fear, humiliation, grief, embarrassment, nervousness, worry, anger, frustration, helplessness, nervousness , sadness, stress, mental and emotional distress, and anxiety."
Spacey is currently under investigation in California, with six sexual assault investigations in process in England.
