Horrifying video shows moment $2M jet nosedives into Florida trailer park causing 'multiple fatalities'
Video has emerged showing the moment a $2 million Learjet 60 business jet crashed at high speed near West Palm Beach, Florida, killing multiple people on board and leaving a crater in the road that was still burning when emergency crews arrived.
The footage, shared by BNO News on X, shows the aircraft slamming into the ground near a mobile home park in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, at what appears to be full speed. The explosion on impact is immediate and enormous.
Nine people were on board the chartered jet. Authorities have confirmed 'multiple fatalities' but have not released a specific number or identified anyone involved.
What the dashcam footage shows
The video shared by BNO News is dashcam footage credited to Aki Kuusisto.
It was recorded at 1:51 PM on Military Trail, the road that runs through the Greenacres neighbourhood where the jet came down.
The driver is heading straight along the road under grey, overcast skies. Palm trees and power lines line both sides. There is no warning. No sound of an engine overhead. Nothing in the sky.
Then the entire frame turns white. A fireball erupts directly ahead on the road, so large it fills the dashcam's field of view from edge to edge. Debris flies outward. A mushroom-shaped ball of fire rises above the impact site. The driver was heading directly toward the point where the jet hit the ground.
A separate video, filmed from street level in the aftermath, shows a gaping crater torn into the asphalt of Military Trail, the road that runs through the neighbourhood. The wreckage of at least one mobile home is visible in flames beside it. A burst water pipe is sending water flooding into the crater. Power lines are down. Debris is scattered across the road in every direction.
A resident who lives nearby told reporters: "We lost power after a loud boom and can hear dozens of ambulances and fire trucks." Others described the sound of the impact as being 'like a missile'.
What is known about the aircraft
Flight tracking data shows the Learjet 60, registration N722BD, departed Austin, Texas at approximately 10:37 AM ET. It was operated by LR60271 LLC and was on a chartered flight to the Palm Beach area.
ADS-B data indicates the aircraft entered a rapid, uncontrolled descent over West Palm Beach and impacted terrain at 12:49 PM ET (17:49 UTC). The jet struck a tree and brought down power lines before slamming into the mobile home park and producing a fireball that destroyed at least one trailer.
The aircraft was reportedly based in Texas and valued at approximately $2 million. Its tail number and flight-tracking data became inaccessible shortly after the crash, which is standard when aviation authorities take over an investigation.
A Learjet 60 is a mid-size business jet manufactured by Bombardier, capable of carrying up to nine passengers plus two crew. Nine people were confirmed to be on board this flight. It is not known how many of them were passengers and how many were crew.
Whether anyone on the ground was killed
This has not been confirmed. The crash struck a mobile home community where residents were inside their homes on a Sunday afternoon. At least one trailer was completely destroyed. The impact also caused power outages across the surrounding area.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared the incident a mass casualty event. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirmed the crash and closed Military Trail in both directions between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, describing the response as an 'extended incident'.
What caused the crash
Nobody knows yet. The near-vertical angle of the descent visible in the video suggests a catastrophic failure of some kind. Whether that was mechanical, structural, or related to pilot incapacitation will not be determined until the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have examined the wreckage and recovered the flight data and cockpit voice recorders.
The NTSB typically dispatches a 'go team' to the site of fatal aviation incidents within hours. An investigation has been confirmed.
What the video does show, with no ambiguity, is that the aircraft was not under controlled flight when it hit the ground. It came down nose-first, at speed, with no visible attempt to recover. Nine people were inside it. Multiple of them are confirmed dead. The rest is now in the hands of investigators.
