Spencer Wright has shared an incredible update regarding his three-year-old son following a tragic accident.

Earlier this week, young Levi Wright - the son of the globally ranked rodeo star - was rushed to hospital after driving his toy tractor into a river in Utah.

A statement from his family via spokesperson Mindy Sue Clark revealed that Levi was in a critical condition and now expected to survive.

In a Facebook post shortly after the incident, the boy’s parents explained: “Levi’s heart is beating on its own, he has a will to breathe but his sweet little brain was without oxygen too long and there is no coming back from that.”

“We can’t be selfish and drag this out for days, he doesn’t deserve that,” the post continued, “Shortly we will stop care and hold him close until his last breath on earth.

However, on Thursday, the family offered some amazing and hopeful news - Levi woke up.

Writing in a Facebook post, mom Kallie Wright said: “LEVI WOKE UP! I am shook, we don’t know much but the doctor said it was okay for me to get excited about that and I AM! My baby is so tough!”

“He got a little wild so we had to settle him down again but my heart,” she added.

Clark added that Levi "opened his eyes and tried to lift his head. The nurse was in the room and they were telling him how much he loves excavators, and wouldn’t you know it, there he was!"

Amazingly, the update comes after the family were urged by a doctor that the parents “needed to give him more time”.

ABC4 reported that Levi’s tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, with rescue crews pulling the young boy out of a Salt Lake City river at approximately 6:00PM.

Mom Kallie has also shared a post thanking the rescuers who retrieved her son from the water, writing: “To whoever decided to spend close to an hour reviving him and not giving up. I’d hug you if I could.

“The water was up to my chest and I don’t know if I could have known what to do if I did find him.”

Dad Spencer, 33, was ranked 35th in the world in 2023 by ProRodeo. The New York Post reports that he comes from a long line of famed cowboys – including his father, ProRodeo Hall of Famer Bill Wright.

We wish Levi and his family the very best at this difficult time.
