A man has been fired from his job at a Maryland-based printing company after being seen by his employer in images partaking in the storming of the US Capitol on Wednesday (January 6).

Navistar Direct Marketing has officially announced its decision to fire the employee who was seen wearing his company ID badge inside the Capitol as a participant of the violent pro-Trump mob who breached the building in a protest which resulted in five deaths.

Per CNN, the pro-Trump protestors attempted to obstruct the ceremonial counting of the Electoral College votes to affirm Joe Biden's victory in the US 2020 Presidential Election.

The outlet also states that the breach of the Capitol delayed the process of affirming Biden's impending presidency as the House and Senate were forced to find shelter when the riots broke out.

The House and Senate later reconvened and the count of Joe Biden's 306 votes to the outgoing President Donald Trump's 232 was finished overnight.

Navistar Direct Marketing said in a statement that it had been made aware that a man who was wearing a Navistar badge was seen in photos inside the Capitol building as part of the protest.

After reviewing the photos, the employee - whose name has not been made known - was fired.

He was seen wearing a "Trump" hat while holding a flag and the ID badge around his neck. The logo on the badge was identified as that of Navistar Direct Marketing.

On Thursday morning, the decision to terminate the man's employment was announced.

"Navistar Direct Marketing was made aware that a man wearing a Navistar company badge was seen inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 during the security breach," the company wrote in a statement. "After review of the photographic evidence the employee in question has been terminated for cause.

The statement continued: "While we support all employee’s right to peaceful, lawful exercise of free speech, any employee demonstrating dangerous conduct that endangers the health and safety of others will no longer have an employment opportunity with Navistar Direct Marketing."

Navistar has since contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the former employee, a company spokesperson told Forbes. The publication also reports that police identified him on Thursday morning as a person of interest in the unlawful entry into the Capitol building.

Others involved in the protest have since been identified, with some also having faced termination.

Paul Davis, an attorney at Texas-based Goosehead Insurance, was fired after live streaming his involvement in the storming of the Capitol.
