Marjorie Taylor Greene has come under fire for comparing George Floyd's murder to Ashli Babbitt's death.
Floyd was killed at the hands of ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin – who handcuffed the former security guard and pressed his knee on the back of his neck for more than nine minutes, fatally asphyxiating him.
Last month, the police officer was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison on second-degree murder charges last month.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Babbit was shot and killed by police during the US Capitol riots in January, during which she breached the US Capitol.
Take a look at Greene's interview in full in the video below:Comparing their deaths during an interview with anchor Greg Kelly on the right-leaning network Newsmax, Green stated:
"If this country can demand justice for someone like George Floyd, then we can certainly demand justice for Ashli Babbitt and everyone deserves to know who killed her."
Per The Mail, she continued by claiming to have faced ostracism and shaming as a result of her conservative beliefs, stating:
"Not only are we banned or suspended or completely kicked off and never allowed back on for speaking our political beliefs and speaking our minds, but we are treated as if we're second-class citizens for holding these opinions."
On social media, a number of critics have reacted negatively to Greene comparing the death of Floyd to that of Babbit.
For instance, one person wrote: "Wow! How low can we go as a country? And how intelligent or how much [common sense] does congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene [have?] What has she done since she got to Congress?"
A second commented: "Ashli Babbitt = George Floyd Is like Marjorie Taylor Greene = Albert Einstein. Unfortunately, too many morons in the United States of 'Murica would agree with the above. [sic]"
A third person then penned: "This woman obviously doesn't know what a 'comparison' is. She means to contrast the difference. Ashli Babbitt was in the process of committing a felony and she was shot."
Finally, another person chimed in: "This person needs to think before she speaks. George Floyd's death is not the same as Ashli Babbitt's part in an attempted coup of America. @GOP your silence is deafening."
