The Michigan school shooting suspect and his parents were separated and placed under suicide watch in jail, officials have confirmed, per CNN.
During a press conference on Saturday, December 4, Michael Bouchard, the sheriff of Oakland County, Michigan, said that 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, and his parents Jennifer and James Crumbley, were under "advanced watch" and were being detained separately at the county jail.
Bouchard said: "There is no indication that any of them were suicidal but out of an abundance of caution our amazing corrections team is doing suicide watches on all three of them."
Crumbley allegedly fatally shot four students and injured seven at Oxford High School on November 30.
He was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, one count of terrorism causing death, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His parents Jennifer and James Crumbley have been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter and pleaded not guilty.
According to prosecutor Karen McDonald, Jennifer and James gave their young son a firearm just four days before the rampage.
They "could have stopped it, and they had every reason to know that he was dangerous," she said on Friday.
According to official records, the boy's parents were apprehended following a search that spanned several hours. They were taken to the jail just before 3 AM over the weekend.
As they are deemed a flight risk, the pair are being held on a $500,000 bond each.
They were treated as fugitives after they refused to show up to an arraignment before they were jailed, which led to an extensive search for the couple.
Their lawyers Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman said that the pair "were absolutely going to turn themselves in. It was just a matter of logistics."
It was previously reported that Crumbley's parents had met with the school over their son's "classroom behavior" just hours before the shooting.
The four victims who died in the shooting have been identified as Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Justin Shilling, 17, and Tate Myre, 16.
