A Florida mom was taken into custody after she refused to leave the bedside of her daughter, who is currently in hospital recovering from brain surgery.

Devoted 70-year-old mom Lynn Savage reportedly refused to comply with the visiting hours set by UF Health North in Jacksonville, WKRC reports.

Savage, a great-grandmother, told the news outlet that her adult daughter is non-verbal and was forced to undergo the surgery after having a stroke which also left her paralyzed on her left side.

Despite being removed in handcuffs on trespassing charges, she stands by her decision, telling WKRC: "I stand by my actions 100 percent. I am not sorry that I made them take me out of there in handcuffs."

More on this incredible story in the report below:

Savage added: "I could not in good conscience and good heart leave her bedside not knowing how she was going to make it through the night voluntarily."

The doting mother - who was also acting as her daughter's interpreter - was by her daughter's bedside from 6:30AM. Doctors had even asked Savage to be in her daughter's ICU room to help calm her down following the operation. While at her bedside, Savage said her daughter's behavior was fine.

But once visiting hours were over, Savage was asked to leave by a nurse, to which the mom said she would not be leaving the hospital. Savage - a former deputy sheriff in Stark County Ohio - says she knew the consequences her actions would have.

The arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office states that "security officers spent a couple of hours pleading for the suspect, Ms. Lynn Savage, to leave"

After being taken into custody, Savage spent approximately 24 hours in jail - something she says was "terrifying", but added: "I would rather be there than know that I had walked away from my daughter."

In a statement to Action News Jax, the hospital said: "Like health care organizations throughout the country, we have put policies in place to protect everyone from the COVID-19 virus, including patients, visitors and staff."

"Information about visitation limitations are placed in areas visible to those entering our facilities," it added.

While her daughter continues to recover from the surgery, Savage is now facing trespassing charges and is due to appear before a judge on October 20.
