An aggressive man was seen confronting an NBC News correspondent live on air for reasons that remain unclear.
The man who accosted NBC's Shaquille Brewster has now been identified as Benjamin Eugene Dagley, according to Gulfport police.
Police said in a statement that Dagley has been issued with an arrest warrant following the bizarre altercation and will be charged with two counts of simple assault, one count of disturbing the peace, and one count of violating an emergency curfew.
The authorities also stated that it is likely that Dagley violated his probation in Cuyahoga County, Ohio - if he traveled without authorization.
Take a look at the moment the angry man went after the NBC News correspondent:On Monday, August 30, Brewster had been reporting on Tropical Storm Ida in Gulfport, Mississippi, when he was suddenly accosted by the man.
The unsuspecting reporter was speaking to the camera when a white pick-up truck pulled up behind him and a man sprinted out towards Brewster.
The man began shouting at Brewster, who responded by calmly turning his back to him and telling viewers: "I’m going to turn this way because you know, we deal with some people every once in a while."
The man became increasingly aggressive invading Brewster's personal space while shouting at him to "report accurately." And at one point, he appeared to lunge at the reporter.
Back in the studio, anchor Craig Melvin assured viewers at home: "Hey, hey, hey, we're going to check in with Shaq Brewster just to make sure all is well. There's a lot of crazy out there, a lot of crazy."
Later on in the program, the anchor addressed the incident once more, saying: "You probably saw or heard a few moments ago, one of our correspondents was disrupted by some wacky guy during his live shot there in Mississippi."
He added: "Pleased to report that Shaquille Brewster is doing just fine. Shaq is OK."
Melvin later tweeted: "This is beyond unacceptable and disgusting. @shaqbrewster was trying to do his job on a beach in Gulfport, MS. Shaq is ok. This guy who nearly attacked him clearly is not."
Brewster also commented on the incident, assuring everyone that he had left the situation unscathed. He wrote: "Appreciate the concern guys. The team and I are all good!"
