A mortician has shared their verdict on a viral photo allegedly showing Jeffrey Epstein after his death.
Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York City at 6.30AM on August 10, 2019, with his death ultimately being ruled as suicide.
While controversy has surrounded his death - and whether he did indeed take his own life or foul play was involved - people have wanted to find out more about what actually happened.
While no official autopsy images have been released, a photo went viral which many claimed to have been taken after his death, showing the disgraced financier laying on his back with his eyes closed.
However, a woman who goes by Lauren the Mortician, has taken to YouTube to debunk the image and explain why it can't be real.
She told her followers: "No matter what you believe about this case, a dead body follows rules," and explained how she knew "just by looking" that the picture was taken when Epstein was "very much alive".
Lauren revealed that she asked "one question" after seeing the image - and it wasn't about the "weird-looking table he's lying on" or his body positioning - it was to do with his "mouth area".
She revealed it's something people don't usually talk about, but "when someone dies, every muscle in their body relaxes, all of it - including your jaw."
"When the jaw relaxes and someone is lying on their back, gravity takes over and the mouth opens," she explained.
Lauren revealed that the natural opening of the mouth means that in funeral homes, steps are taken to make sure the mouth is closed via a "few different techniques".
"Without intervention, it will not stay shut," she explained.
She revealed that as Epstein's mouth is closed in the image, it signifies that there is still "muscle tone" which is not present once a person has died.
Lauren blamed movies and television for giving people a false impression that dead people can have their mouths closed without any outside intervention.
She also revealed that Epstein's eyes also show he is alive in the photo, as dehydration starts "almost immediately" after death, which would dry out and "flatten" the eyes.
Skin color is also a major indicator, as blood starts to pool in the lowest parts of the body once death occurs, giving them a pallid hue which is not present in the photo of Epstein.
She also pointed out moisture beneath Epstein's nose as an indicator that he is living, stating that the combination of all the factors proves the photo is "not post-death".
