Despite the chaotic unrest that is unfolding across the US, there are still many moments occurring within protests that will warm anyone's hearts.
Case in point, a group of Lincoln police officers have been recorded dancing the Cupid Shuffle with Black Lives Matter protesters in Nebraska.
You can see the heartwarming moment below:The footage was captured by 1011-NOW News reporter Ellis Wiltsey, and shows a number of Lincoln cops merrily dancing with a large group of protesters to Cupid's 2007 hit, 'Cupid Shuffle'.
As reported by 1011-NOW, the moment of unity came after Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister, police officers, and community leaders met at the site of the George Floyd memorial on Wednesday afternoon to sign an agreement to "Hold Cops Accountable" (or HCA).
Officers and black community leaders marked the occasion by taking a knee and having a moment of silence.
Speaking on the new agreement, Programming Director at the Malone Center Ishma Valenti said: "What we must do is work for proactive action that never allows this to happen again."
The LPD later said how it recognizes the value and dignity of everybody in the Lincoln community and stands by the right that every voice needs to be heard.
Community members and police officers will now attend a monthly event called Hold Cops Accountable.
This will be facilitated by the HCA committee in a town hall meeting at the Malone Center, and will allow community members to publicly voice their concerns, comments, or displeasure regarding the LPD. There will be a public record of these meetings.
Chief Jeff Bliemeister said of the historic agreement:
"Black lives matter and they haven't mattered and they need to. This action steps, these actions steps. We want that accountability. We all want that throughout our career, beginning with me."
Executive Director of the Malone Center John Goodwin added: "This is not going to happen overnight, this isn't going to happen next week. This is a long term process. My ancestors died for this."
The Cupid Shuffle has broken out a number of times over the last week:The Hold Cops Accountable agreement is a welcome step forward in change and allowing the voices of the community to be heard.
Protests - some peaceful, some violent - continue to boil over in the States, as people are calling out the systemic injustices carried out against black people, not least seen by the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.
As well as a call for justice, these ongoing protestsĀ are also demanding an end to police brutality and the racism that is so deeply entrenched in America and the western world.
The message is simple: Black lives matter.
