A couple were mysteriously found dead in their hotel room in Mexico and their children fear they may never know how they died.

Lindsay and Nick Jordan, who were in Mexico to celebrate Lindsay's 46th birthday with friends, were discovered deceased on July 14, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

Their son, Deven Simms, has been diligently examining and translating police records to uncover the truth behind his parents' deaths.

Mexican authorities suspect drugs were involved, but inconsistencies in the reports have left Deven searching for answers.

“There are discrepancies in 'every document' about how many drugs were found and of what kind,” Deven said.

The situation is further complicated as Mexican authorities have ruled the deaths non-suspicious, preventing the family from conducting independent autopsies in the United States.

"I know now we will never know," Deven told the Gazette Journal, emphasizing that his father did not drink, making a drug overdose implausible in his view.

"They were there with work friends too. They weren't going to go and do that," Deven added.

The couple had been excited about the trip, sending photos to their children from the resort during the first two days.

Lindsay’s last Facebook post on July 12 featured photos of the pool and ocean, captioned, "Not too bad from our room for our long weekend."

The final photo of Lindsay and Nick, taken by a friend, showed them happy and smiling as they enjoyed lunch at the resort.

“They were just happy and happy to be on this trip,” said their 19-year-old daughter, Haley.

On the morning of July 14, when Lindsay and Nick failed to show up to discuss plans, their friends went to their room, only to be turned away by police and hotel staff, per the Daily Mail.

The friends then informed Deven of the tragic news, who in turn called Haley.

They met at their parents' house in Reno to break the news to their younger sister, Sammy, who was returning from a trip to Disneyland with their grandmother.

"We just said it as bluntly as we could," Deven recalled. "I didn't want her to have questions or not know right away they were no longer with us."

The devastating news sent 12-year-old Sammy running to her mother's car, where she sought comfort in the passenger seat.

"It's where, at that moment, she felt closest to my mom because she drove Sammy everywhere," Haley explained. Deven and Haley joined her, sitting by the car to offer support.

Nevada Elite Wrestling, where Sammy is a prodigy, expressed their grief, stating they had "suffered a tremendous loss to our wrestling family."

"Nick and Lindsay Jordan's spunk always brought such a light into any room they entered," the club posted on Facebook.

"They were the most generous people, and if you got a chance to be around them, you'd know how special they were. The Jordans supported EVERYTHING for our club, always donating their time, talents, and treasure."

In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was launched by Lindsay's former workplace to support the Jordan children.

At the time of writing, the page has raised $94,000.
