A GoFundMe for Daunte Wright's funeral costs has raised over $700,000.

The fundraiser was set up by Daunte's aunt, Kelly Bryant, after the 20-year-old was fatally shot during a traffic stop by police in Brooklyn, Minnesota.

In officer bodycam footage of the incident, Daunte can be seen getting back into his car after the officers inform him that he is going to be arrested for an outstanding warrant.

As the 20-year-old steps back into the vehicle, Officer Kim Potter can be heard saying "taser" on several occasions before shooting with her gun instead of a taser. Dante was subsequently fatally wounded and died shortly after.

Kelly wrote on the GoFundMe page: "All funds raised through this site will go towards covering funeral and burial expenses, mental health and grief counseling for Daunte's family, to help the Wright family in their fight for justice, and to provide support for Daunte's infant son, Daunte Wright, Jr.

"100% of the funds raised on this site will go to the Wright family. NO PART OF THESE FUNDS WILL BE USED TOWARDS LEGAL FEES.  The road to justice is very long, and the Wright family will not let what happened to Daunte be forgotten. The officer(s) who took his life must be held responsible."

In the wake of the incident, Officer Potter and the police chief Tim Gannon both resigned from their positions.

President Biden described Daunte's death on Sunday (April 11) as "a really tragic thing", adding that he has watched the "fairly graphic" body camera footage from the officer who fatally shot the 20-year-old.

"The question is was it an accident? Was it intentional?" Biden told reporters at the White House. "That remains to be determined by a full-blown investigation."

"I think we've got to wait and see what the investigation shows - and the entire investigation," he said, as per USA Today.

The young father had been looking forward to celebrating his son's second birthday, ABC7 reports.

"Now my son, he don't have a dad," said the boy's mother, Chyna Whitaker. "His dad won't get to see him for his 2nd birthday or for any of his birthdays. And I'm just so messed up about it because I feel like they stole my son's dad from him."
