A man has died after going overboard the world's largest cruise ship, officials have confirmed.
As reported by the New York Post, the passenger - who has not been formally identified as of this writing - was aboard the Royal Caribbean’s new 1,200-foot-long Icon of the Seas, which is the largest cruise ship on the planet.
But on Sunday morning - the first night of the man's week-long trip - representatives from the Coast Guard say the passenger went overboard from the vessel, shortly after it departed Florida for Honduras.
The massive cruise liner was roughly 300 miles from Port Miami and between 30-40 miles north of Santa Lucia at the time of the incident, per CruiseHive.

The cruise ship can hold a staggering 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members, and boasts a 17,000-square-foot water park, a theater, a carousel, and over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges.
Across its 20 desks - which measure almost the size of four city blocks - the ship also boasts the largest pool and skating rink that can be found at sea.
The Coast Guard confirmed that after the man went overboard, a rescue boat was deployed and successfully located the passenger. The ship stopped for approximately two hours while rescuers performed the search mission.
After bringing the man aboard, he was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries.
"The US Coast Guard did not have much involvement in this incident,” the agency added.
In a statement to the NY Post, officials from Royal Caribbean said: "The ship’s crew immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard and launched a search and rescue operation.

On social media, clips have been shared by other passengers showing the rescue boat being deployed.
The Icon of the Seas took its maiden voyage in January this year.
This incident comes a little over a month after 20-year-old Levion Parker is believed to have gone overboard on another Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the Liberty of the Seas.
