Nashville police have released chilling security footage showing the moment shooter Audrey Hale arrived on the grounds of a private Christian elementary school.
On Monday, March 27, three nine-year-old students and three adults were killed at the Covenant School in Nashville - a private Christian elementary school - after a former student carried out a targeted attack on the facility.
Police have since identified the shooter as 28-year-old Audrey Hale.
Hale arrived at the school armed with three firearms, gaining access to the building after shooting out the glass in a side door.
Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake has said, per CNN, that the attack lasted approximately 14 minutes.
After a five-member police team heard gunfire coming from the school, they made their way to the scene. The first call about the devastating attack came in at 10:13AM.
At 10:27AM, police fatally shot the suspect on the second floor of the school.
Following the attack, police have released footage of the moment Hale arrived on school grounds and gained access to the building. Hale had driven to the school in a silver Honda Fit.
The clip shows the moment Hale blasts the glass doors and enters the school - calmly walking the corridors.
The footage can be seen in the tweet below:Hale can be seen wearing camo pants, sneakers, a white t-shirt, a dark vest, and a red baseball cap.
Once in the building, the footage shows Hale - who police have stated was assigned female at birth but used male pronouns - then entering unlocked doors in an apparent search for victims.
The Covenant School teaches around 200 students aged from preschool through 6th grade.
A spokesperson for the school has since released the following statement: "We are grieving tremendous loss and are in shock coming out of the terror that shattered our school and church. We are focused on loving our students, our families, our faculty and staff and beginning the process of healing."
"Law enforcement is conducting its investigation, and while we understand there is a lot of interest and there will be a lot of discussion about and speculation surrounding what happened, we will continue to prioritize the well-being of our community," the statement continues.
