Police have shared a heartbreaking update after a Walmart employee was found dead in the walk-in oven of a store in Canada.

As previously reported, a deceased 19-year-old girl identified as Gursimran Kaur was discovered inside a walk-in bakery oven.

Kaur and her mother had migrated from India to Canada three years ago and both worked at the store.

According to a GoFundMe set up for the family, Kaur's mother was concerned after she hadn’t heard from her daughter for over an hour during their shift, something that was unusual for the teen.

Co-workers initially thought the young girl was helping a customer in the large store, but her mother grew increasingly worried when Kaur stopped answering her phone.

The situation escalated when another staff member noticed "leakage" from the area near the oven. Kaur’s mother frantically opened the oven door and discovered her daughter's “charred remains” inside the bakery department’s large oven.

An investigation was immediately launched into the Kaur's tragic death.

Almost one month after the heartbreaking incident, Halifax Regional Police have announced an update in the investigation, revealing that the teen's passing has "been determined not to be suspicious" and there is no evidence of foul play.

"At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a sudden death in the Walmart located at 6990 Mumford Road. A 19-year-old woman, who was an employee of the store, was located deceased in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department," the post read.

HRP Constable Martin Cromwell said in a video shared by the department that "several interviews" were conducted alongside surveillance footage being reviewed.

He added that officials were working "very closely with our partners at Nova Scotia Department of Labor and Medical Examiner Service".

"We do not believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death," he also said.

The Facebook post concluded: "Investigators met with family to share this update and extend condolences.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. The family asks the public to respect their privacy and the dignity and memory of their loved one, as they receive this news."

More than $194,00 had been raised for the fundraiser created by the Maritime Sikh Society Executive.

“This family's sufferings are unimaginable and indescribable," a message on the donations page read. "They need your support to get through this horrific time."

Amanda Ross, a Walmart spokesperson, issued a statement about the tragedy: "Our deepest thoughts are with our associate and their family. Our focus remains on taking care of our associates and making sure they have the support they need," cited by PEOPLE.

The store temporarily closed after the incident but reopened this Monday, CBC reported.
