Presley Gerber was accompanied by his close family during what would be his final public appearance before his death.
It was publicly announced that Gerber had passed away at the age of just 27 at a rehabilitation facility on Sunday, September 20, with the circumstances surrounding his death not publicly available.
With tributes pouring in for the former model, his last public outing has also attracted further attention online, having appeared at a We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation launch event alongside his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, in Malibu, California, on June 11.
Presley was pictured happily with his mother and father, who were in attendance to support their son during a panel discussion on mental health and substance abuse.
The event, which was created to celebrate the launch of the We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation bracelet collection, collaborated with mental health organizations and charities, stating that it was donating all of its proceeds to support those causes.
The son of American model and actress Cindy Crawford, Presley joined the panel to elaborate on his own mental health experiences, sharing what aided him in realizing that he was “enough” during that period.
“The most free I felt was when I was finally honest with myself,” he revealed to the audience.
Discussing ways he believed were effective in dealing with difficult periods, Presley said: “Move your body regardless of how you’re feeling. Get outside. Get some sun,” he said.
“If you don’t feel like moving, lay on the grass.”
The model had been open about his own battles with mental health issues over the years, having frequently taken to social media to voice his experiences, from discussing medications to substance abuse.
Kaia Gerber, Presley’s younger sister, had opened up on her brother’s well-publicized addiction story, describing it as a “decade-long struggle with drug addiction.”
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia explained.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything - and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’ ” she claimed. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world.”
Since the news of his death, there has been an outpouring of love and support on social media, with a family representative requesting: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
