Illinois Representative Adam Kinzinger has described Donald Trump as a "snowflake" who "gets offended really easy."

Kinzinger made the comment on Monday (September 13) in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper after they discussed Trump's response to George W. Bush's speech on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, per the HuffPost.

In his speech, Bush said there is "little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home."

However, Trump hit back at this remark and said Bush "shouldn't be lecturing anybody" because of what he did in "getting us into the quicksand of the Middle East."

Kinzinger didn't hold back in criticizing Trump's response to Bush's speech, telling Cooper that he believed it was a testament to the fact that, in his opinion, Trump is a "snowflake".

"I mean, If you think about it, what is strength? Strength isn’t somebody that just gets their dander up every time because they feel they have such a lack of self-esteem, they feel they have to out an attack," Kinzinger said.

"Somebody with strength is someone who can take criticism, who can go out on a day like September 11 and bring people together. Folks on my side like to use the term snowflake when talking about people that get offended really easy. Well, that’s Donald Trump."

"I look at who he is as a person and the amount of offended he gets on anything and how he has to go out and punch down," Kinzinger added. "He'll attack a radio host, for goodness sakes, when he was president of the United States."

Trump didn't just take aim at Bush for his 9/11 message, he also branded President Joe Biden a "fool" over the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan in his own message on the 20th anniversary of the attacks.

He said Biden "and his inept administration" had surrendered "in defeat" after two decades were spent fighting the war in Afghanistan.

"The leader of our country was made to look like a fool and that can never be allowed to happen," the former president said, per Daily Mail.

"It was caused by bad planning, incredible weakness, and leaders who truly didn't understand what was happening."

Trump described 9/11 as a "very sad day" and thanked first responders, before adding: "It's also a sad time for the way our war on those who did such great harm to our country ended."

"The loss of 13 great warriors and the many more who were wounded should never have happened," he added of the deaths of American service members in an attack at the Kabul airport on August 26.
