An Iowa man who was reportedly captured on camera chasing a police officer through the Capitol building during Wednesday's riots has been identified and arrested.
As reported by outlets such as the New York Times and Associated Press, Police Sergeant Paul Parizek confirmed that Des Moines officers assisted the FBI in arresting 41-year-old Doug Jensen on Friday night at his home.
Footage appearing to show Jensen running rampant through the Capitol building quickly went viral on social media, as he chased a Black police officer up several flights of stairs.
In the video below - shared to Twitter by HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic - a man police believe to be Jensen can be seen wearing a black Q-Anon t-shirt and black cap as he chases USCP Officer Eugene Goodman through the building.
Watch the moment unfold below:In the video, Goodman can be seen reaching for his baton and repeatedly telling the mob to "get back".
Later identified by multiple outlets as Goodman, The Independent has since reported that many people on social media hailed the cop a "hero" for his actions.
Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips wrote on Twitter: "With gratitude and reverence I salute the particular heroism of black U.S. Capitol Police officers like Officer Eugene Goodman who stared grotesque hatred directly in the eye on Wednesday and demonstrated to the world that their Black Lives Matter."
Additionally, Christopher J. Hale, a former Democratic nominee for Congress, posted: "Officer Eugene Goodman stopped a mob of white rioters from entering the chambers of the United States Senate.
"At this perilous moment in our nation’s history, he was the one person standing between democracy and the rule of tyrants."
The Associated Press also reports that a man who appears to be Jensen posted to TikTok on Thursday under the username @dougjensen. In a seven-second video, the man suggests that he is being made a "poster boy" and tells viewers: "Don’t believe the news."
Per news releases from the FBI's field office in Omaha, Nebraska, and the county sheriff's office, Jensen was booked into the Polk County Jail early Saturday on five federal charges, including trespassing and disorderly conduct counts.

Riots throughout the Capitol building occurred after Trump's "stop the steal" rally on Wednesday.
As the mob vandalized and ransacked the building, lawmakers - who were voting to affirm President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election - were forced into hiding for hours.
